Project "Red Bull Door Deco" transforms old and decayed entry doors at Savamala into creative field for the most renowned graffiti artists.
Belgrade’s graffiti scene has been present in Savamala for a number of years and by its persistence and creativity it gives an initial impulse to the inflow of culture in a rundown urban zone. Without a compromise, they conquer the territory and mark the abandoned buildings, empty streets and narrow passages...
This driving energy is necessary to shake and freshen up the world around us. The "Red Bull Door Deco" projects turns the shabby and neglected doors of beautiful Savamala buildings into a creative field for the most distinguished graffiti artists. The unique artists’ style recognizable all over the city makes the doors of Savamala the key urban places that will decorate this part of the city in the future. "Red Bull Door Deco" promotes street-art and confirms that the graffiti artists are those who by leaving their author stamp create the visual identify of the city, without a desire to tame this unique art style and move it into gallery circles.
Precisely at noon, on Sunday, May 27, during the Mixer festival, the artists will start painting 10 entrance doors to buildings.
"Red Bull Door Deco" invites the visitors of the Mixer festival to vote for the work they like the best on the website www.redbull.rs in the period from May 28 to June 2. The author whose work wins the largest number of votes will be allowed to paint a mural in downtown Belgrade as an award.
On this occasion, we would like to thank the residents of the buildings in Savamala for their friendliness and help, and the relevant institutions for the protection of monuments, which contributed to the implementation of this project by their approval.
