Mikser
is a network of enthusiasts and professionals involved in production of various trans-cultural projects. It is concieved as an interactive network of exceptional individuals from various fields. Mikser mixes cultural products and produces projects that connect avant-gard phenomenae and concepts of local and global (pop) cultures. It is also devoted to the devolpment of cultural tolerance in Serbia by mixing local culture with various cultural inputs. The result are projects that establish a dialog between contemporary global cultural tendencies and local cultural scenes, especially in the fields of art, design, architecture, communication and media.

After more than a decade of isolation, Serbia is in desperate need of not only economic recovery, but also intellectual restoration. Though local art scene managed to remain active, owing to constant political tension which provoked politically engaged art, the quality of academic and professional exchange was extremely low, almost non-existing. Fortunately, a lot of young professionals who left the country in one of the biggest "brain drains" in Europe, are now returning to Serbia or are in other ways willing to contribute to its revival, by using their personal and professional connections worldwide. MIKSER is the effort of such a group of young people who are investing their energy in motivating world's leading professionals, authors, artists, experts, etc. to share their knowledge and work with reformist forces in Serbia.

MIKSER is the enthusiastic machinery behind various innovative trans-cultural projects. Rather an interactive network of very strong individuals of diverse backgrounds than a structured NGO, MIKSER is dedicated to "stirring" the existing cultural content, providing projects with cross references between avant-garde thinking and phenomena rising from the local and global popular culture. MIKSER is also dedicated to developing social tolerance in Serbia by "mixing" the local culture with different cultural influences, proposing projects which establish the missing dialogue between contemporary cultural tendencies and the current young cultural scene in Serbia, particularly in the field of communication, media, design, architecture, etc.

People behind MIKSER believe that collaborative projects with globaly recognized contemporaries from different fields of expertise not only give impulse to local art, architecture, urbanism and design, but they also help Belgrade reclaime its position on the cultural map of Europe. MIKSER abroad promotes certain image of Belgrade as one of the world's significant cultural capitals, therefore, each of our project is conceived according to formula of multi-directional exchange, with the goal to promote progressive cultural and social ideas born in the Balkans think-tank.

Intellectuals involved in MIKSER are experienced in initiating and organizing events of international professional and academic exchange such as lectures, discussions, workshops, film and music festivals, exhibitions, performances, research, etc. Some of them were evaluated as significant initiatives on the level of diplomatic activity of our country (Project Repositioning Belgrade, partners: Forma, Stockholm and Columbia University, New York).

Members of MIKSER act in the country and abroad, using their personal and professional reputation and contacts gained at prestigious international universities in initiating knowledge- and experience-exchange projects, hoping to stimulate a new cultural aura around Serbia. Our "tentacles" reach New York, London, Cairo, Barcelona, Montreal, Paris, Milan, etc.
